Gcal : Google Calendar looks to be launching

It looks like this is it folks, the moment you have all been waiting for. It looks like Gcal is about to go live. Google is redirecting people looking for Calendar to the main Google Page and it looks like it's about to go live. As of earlier this evening http://www.google.com/cl2/terms.html is redirecting to www.google.com and if you type in calendar.google.com it now redirects to the real CL2 login screen that was for beta testers of the service. Get ready for Gcal - Google Calendar is about to arrive.

Google Calendar = CL2

Maybe CL2 is a codeword. Hard to say. But for now, Google is calling CL2 "a calendar for you and your world." Must mean it is close to launch. Would be great to see something official this week.

CalendarHub, Best Alternative For Now

If you came here looking for Google Calendar, you are likely in need of a good organizing system. The best I have seen so far is a little product called Calendar Hub. It uses AJAX and has a host of excellent features.

CALENDARHUB FEATURES
- Create multiple personal or group calendars
- Find local events and add them to your calendar
- Get reminders by email or on your phone
- Invite others to your events
- Ajax-based drag & drop interface
- RSS feeds for any calendar view
- Subscribe to public calendars (e.g. iCal)
- Import/Export (e.g. Outlook, Yahoo)

You can access it here Calendarhub.com

Calendar sector heating up

I keep hearing about money being thrown at calendar-focused start ups. This is clearly an important market and one that will take shape this year.

Welcome to the Google Calendar Page

Everyone thought it would come in 2005, it didn't. It made sense to launch it in January. The first of the month on the new year would have made perfect sense too. Alas, it's not here yet. But we know it's coming and we are looking for clues and hints and waiting for it's appearance. Check back. We have more to come.
